Overview
The Year 1 garden brief is the dining zone (table, bench, chairs, rug, awning) and a small lounge zone off the SW patio extension. This page is the dining + lounge + rug menu only. Awning and pizza oven are separate.
Aesthetic anchor
Japandi / quiet luxury. Warm teak, restrained palette, linen-look upholstery, black metal as accent. The inspiration set is Manutti Sunrise / Tribu Ukiyo / Tribu Illum / Manutti Muyu.
Layout the menu was built around
- Bench on one long side, chairs only on the opposite side and at the two heads (carvers). So a 285cm table seats 10 with a 235cm bench (4) + 4 long-side chairs + 2 carvers = 6 chairs.
- Lounge zone: 2 chairs + a side / coffee table on the 2.5×2m patio extension.
What was eliminated, and why
- Mid-tier table mirage - Cane-line Aspect, Gloster Carver, Indian Ocean Marina all priced over £5k once configured. There is no genuine "mid-tier" table in this aesthetic except Garpa Preston.
- Tribu Vis-à-Vis lounge chair - doesn't exist. The collection has only a sofa and a sun lounger.
- Manutti Cape, Manutti Mood lounge - Cape doesn't exist; Mood discontinued.
- Manutti Sandua lounge, Carl Hansen BK11, Cane-line Diamond, Houe Avon - rejected on style or comfort grounds.
- Tikamoon Joaquin bench - has a backrest. Bench must be backless.
- Skagerak Drachmann bench, Skagerak Plank bench - both have backrests.

Garpa mid-tier — the genuine alternative
Garpa Preston 240 teak table, Tribu Illum bench cross-pair, 6× Garpa Cavo armchair (Beige cord), Tribu Senja lounge pair, Garpa Cavo coffee table. The only pack that lands meaningfully below £20k. Smaller table (240) means 8-9 seats not 10.

Rug options
Budget cap is £1,500. The aesthetic target is Manutti's "Natural" hand-woven look (Solae / Mareno) — but as a reference for briefing custom makers, not a buyable option (their actual rugs are £2,500-3,500 and out of scope).
Size requirement
Sunrise 285×110 + 235cm bench + 4 long-side chairs + 2 carvers. For chairs to stay on the rug when pulled back to sit:
- Length: 285 + 2×30cm head overhang = 345cm minimum, 405cm comfortable
- Depth: 110 + 50cm bench-side + 60cm chair-side = 220cm minimum
- Workable range: 240×340 minimum, 280-300×400 comfortable
- Anything below 240×340 is too small — pieces sit off the rug when pulled back. Out of consideration.

Within £1,500 the realistic targets are PET or premium PP. Solution-dyed yarns hold colour 10+ years. Hand-woven construction adds labour cost. Brand premium for the polyolefin tier (Manutti et al) is the £1,500-£3,500 jump that's out of scope.
Colour coordination with brushed teak + graphite Manutti rope
Two routes work with Pack A's palette:
- Warm extender: oat / soft sand / muted taupe — extends teak warmth across the floor. Reads Scandi.
- Dark anchor: deep charcoal / smoke / graphite — grounds the floor, makes teak read warmer by contrast. Reads Japanese.
Avoid: bright cream (clashes with teak), brown/rust (compete with teak's natural warmth), sage (competes with rope), kilim/loud pattern.
Off-the-shelf option
Cane-line Cloud Rug 350×250 in Sand Multi — £1,350
The only off-the-shelf UK option that hits all the constraints. Hand-woven outdoor textile, "soft" not stiff. 350×250 fits the 285×110 Sunrise table well (32cm head overhang, 70cm depth each side).
